It’s Bello Machre employees like Grace Barnes who inspired me to want to work for such an outstanding organization,” explains Carla Stickler, our new Program Director for Meaningful Day Services. Carla shares “Grace always demonstrates genuine care and concern for the well-being of each and every individual she supports. She always has a huge smile on her face, a ready hug for a friend, and she absolutely radiates warmth and love!”

“I just enjoy people,” explained Grace, “I love the feeling of making new connections and my job at Bello Machre gives me the opportunity to make so many of those connections.” After eight years with Bello Machre, Grace has had an impact on nearly everyone supported in our Residential Department. In her role as Family Resource Specialist, Grace is able to work at almost all of our homes.

Some of Grace’s favorite memories come from taking the people we serve on vacations and trips. “One person that I took to New York still talks about our trip and it was 3 years ago,” shares Grace. “That kind of reaction is when you know people enjoyed themselves. It makes me feel good that we made an amazing memory together.”

Recently, in addition to supporting people in many of our homes, Grace
has had the responsibility of being the acting Family Living Director of our Fawn Avenue home. Johnette Lanham, Program Director for Fawn Avenue, shares “Grace’s enthusiasm for service to others is contagious! She supports the ladies at Fawn Avenue with consistent and excellent quality care. Her passion for service to the people we support at Bello Machre is evident. When the ladies who live at Fawn Avenue see her as they are getting off their van each afternoon—they, like the rest of us, literally beam with delight when they see Grace.”
