About Dr. Bob Ireland

Dr. Ireland has devoted his life to the service of others and is a leader within the non-profit field. As the President & CEO of Bello Machre—a position he has held for over 45 years—he played a pivotal role in building the organization from the ground up. Under his guidance, Bello Machre has grown into a beacon of hope and support for individuals with developmental disabilities, reflecting his devoted compassion and commitment to improving lives.

In addition to his longstanding contributions to Bello Machre, Dr. Ireland is a nationally recognized trainer and consultant, delivering workshops to thousands of frontline managers. Locally, he brings his expertise to the Human Services Advisory Board at Anne Arundel Community College, supporting the development of the next generation of human service professionals.

In 2024, Bello Machre celebrated Dr. Ireland’s extraordinary legacy by naming a newly renovated building the Dr. Robert T. Ireland Building—a testament to his lifetime of dedication to the human services field.

Honoring 2025 Developmental Disability Awareness Month

Developmental Disability Awareness Month took place this past March, but the message of inclusion and community support is relevant all year long. Bello Machre President & CEO Robert Ireland reflects on the importance of creating a more inclusive world for people of all abilities. In his message he highlights accessibility challenges, celebrates success stories, and invites everyone to take the Bello Machre Pledge to keep the spirit of awareness and action going throughout the year.
