Bank of America Grants Bello Machre $15,000 to Help Four Vulnerable Adults

Anne Arundel County, MD – Bello Machre is pleased to announce it has received a $15,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to welcome four adults into one of its new wheelchair-accessible homes.

“We partner with nonprofits that provide basic human services in order to connect individuals in our community to the resources they need to thrive,” said Sabina Kelly, Greater Maryland market president, Bank of America. “This grant will allow Bello Machre to continue to support the day-to-day needs of adults with developmental disabilities in the Greater Baltimore community.”

Currently, there are 7,000 people with developmental disabilities in Maryland on the waiting list for services. Of those people, over 1,200 are in crisis prevention and are in need of immediate services due to an aging caregiver or unstable living situation.

“The need for services for people with developmental disabilities has exploded” stated Dr. Robert T. Ireland, President, and CEO of Bello Machre. “Thanks to the support and generosity of the Bank of America, Bello Machre welcomed four adults in critical need of loving care and support.”

Through the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, funding will help individuals and families in Maryland gain greater economic mobility through increased access to food, shelter, benefits and other fundamental needs that will enable them to move toward long-term stability.

The Hertha and Jesse Adams Ray of Hope Program offers assistance with expenses such as specialized summer camp, physical therapy, and adaptive equipment. Trained and caring staff also provides residential respite care, during family hospitalizations, emergencies, and vacations — 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Bello Machre is there to help with whatever is needed, empowering people with developmental disabilities to live life to its fullest. Bello Machre’s Meaningful Day Program provides individualized day services including supported employment; job development and training; and, community-based social, recreational, and educational opportunities.
