More than 450 walkers, cyclists, volunteers, and families gathered in Anne Arundel and Carroll Counties in June for the 35th annual Every Step Counts walk and bike fundraiser, in support of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The energy and overwhelming community spirit from that day was captured in a Severna Park Voice feature, which celebrates the milestone event that brought the community together and raised more than $215,000 to support Bello Machre’s mission of offering a lifetime of loving care to people with developmental disabilities.

The story highlights how neighbors, local employers, and volunteers alike stepped up to champion dignity, inclusion, and independence. From the first participants crossing the finish line to the collective momentum of team fundraising, the event demonstrated the power of community action in driving real change.

Every dollar raised directly fuels Bello Machre’s residential and community-based services, including employment services, for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Spotlights like this remind us how essential our community partners are in advancing our mission. We are grateful to the Severna Park Voice for celebrating this moment with us, and to every participant, donor, sponsor, and volunteer who helped make our 35th anniversary fundraiser an unforgettable success.
