Meet Reese: A Story of Resilience and Hope

Reese’s story is one of love, resilience, and hope. This remarkable three-year-old has faced unimaginable challenges, from being diagnosed with hip dysplasia as a newborn to enduring seven surgeries and eight weeks in a full-body cast. Her strength and her family’s unwavering support have transformed each hurdle into a testament of courage and love.

Reese’s journey took another turn when she was diagnosed with Kabuki syndrome, a rare genetic disorder affecting just one in every 32,000 children. Her mother, Jessica, reflects on their experience with gratitude: “Despite these challenges, Reese is the heart of our family and our spark of joy. Her older brothers, ages 8 and 10, are her guardian angels, always including her in their lives.”

To support Reese’s care, Jessica, a nurse, has had to adjust her work schedule, while her husband, a police officer, works tirelessly to provide for the family. When they learned about Bello Machre’s Ray of Hope Program through a teacher’s assistant at Reese’s pre-K, it felt like a lifeline. This program has helped them manage Reese’s unique needs and alleviate some of their financial burdens.
