Supporting Individuals with Epilepsy of All Ages

Bello Machre provides comprehensive support to individuals with Epilepsy at every stage of life.

From children & teens to adults and seniors, Bello Machre connects individuals with epilepsy to the people, programs, and services that ensure a lifetime of care and support.

Our person-centered approach prioritizes the aspirations of each individual at every stage of life, rather than focusing solely on the diagnosis. We recognize that epilepsy affects people differently—whether they are living alone with epilepsy or exploring group home options—and we embrace an innovative and flexible approach to care.

We tailor our services to include specialized resources, support for families, and personalized accommodations to meet the needs of individuals living with epilepsy and other seizure disorders. Within our group homes and residential care settings, we ensure that safety, comfort, and dignity are always prioritized.

From employment opportunities and meaningful careers to stable housing and daily support from dedicated staff members, Bello Machre empowers individuals and families with the tools they need to thrive.

Group Homes for People with Epilepsy

Bello Machre’s Residential Services create safe, welcoming group homes for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ages 21 and older. Residents live in small households of three to four people, enjoying a sense of community while receiving live-in caregiver support. Our internal Nursing Department provides added support to ensure consistent, person-centered care.

Every home emphasizes independence, fun, and meaningful engagement. Residents share meals, pursue hobbies, and participate in community activities, while DSP caregivers provide guidance and encouragement. Families can trust that their loved ones are thriving in a home built on community, connection, and personal growth.

“Bello Machre had helped Zach even before he was officially in the program, so I wanted to continue with them. It felt like a caring, loving organization that really supports individuals. Now, with their help, Zach’s able to be out in the community and doing what he loves most—being social.”

FAQS About Our Services for Individuals with Epilepsy

Understanding Epilepsy Residential Services

Residential group homes for adults with epilepsy in Maryland provide specialized living arrangements, typically for those age 21 and over, focused on creating a safe, supportive environment that provides 24/7 supervision within a comfortable, home-like setting.

At Bello Machre, group home options for adults with epilepsy are available through our Residential Services, which offer living opportunities in small households of four people where residents can enjoy a sense of community while receiving live-in caregiver support. Every home emphasizes independence, fun, and meaningful engagement through shared meals, the pursuit of hobbies, and the chance to participate in community activities.

Group homes for adults with epilepsy ensure safety and independence by providing continuous supervision and monitoring while promoting skill-building activities that foster independence.

At Bello Machre, we tailor our residential services to include specialized resources, support for families, and personalized accommodations to meet the needs of individuals living with epilepsy and other seizure disorders, and ensure that safety, comfort, and dignity are always prioritized.

Our Nursing Department provides on-site clinical expertise and personalized health monitoring, ensuring individuals receive comprehensive, coordinated care every step of the way. These licensed nursing professionals also provide proactive medical support, training, and guidance to our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)—every group home is managed by a DSP who lives in a separate apartment within the home and provides daily, 24/7 hands-on care for every resident.

In addition, each of our 50 group homes is handicap accessible, with accommodation for a variety of resident needs, including ramps, wider doorways, and other interior design modifications that facilitate mobility, safety, and independence. One-on-one support ensures everyone can participate as fully as possible in the home and community. For example, if a resident is in a wheelchair and doesn’t have the upper body strength or dexterity to ambulate, then their direct support professional (DSP) will help.

For adults with epilepsy and seizure disorder living in our residential group homes, our licensed nursing professionals provide proactive medical support, training, and guidance to our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). Each home is managed by a DSP (also referred to as a Family Living Director or FLD) who lives in a separate apartment within the home and provides daily, hands-on care for every resident.

In addition, our Nursing Department provides on-site clinical expertise and personalized health monitoring, ensuring individuals receive comprehensive, coordinated care. Residents are taken to doctor appointments by staff, with family members welcome to join if they choose. By working closely with families, our nursing team enhances timeliness of care, strengthens continuity across programs, and plays a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and independence of all group home residents.
