Five Easy Ways to Make a Planned Gift to Bello Machre
in Five Minutes or Less

1. Make Bello Machre a Beneficiary of a Life Insurance Policy

Benefits

• You retain total control of the policy over your lifetime
• At the end of your lifetime, you know that Bello Machre will receive a direct benefit without any tax or probate delays

How to do it

• Secure a beneficiary designation form from a representative of your insurance company (almost always found on-line)
• Name Bello Machre as a beneficiary or percentage beneficiary of the policy. Or, name Bello Machre as the contingency beneficiary. You always retain the right to change beneficiaries in the future
• If your plan requests, the Bello Machre Tax ID number is: 52-0915574

Special Note: Should you no longer need a whole life, paid up policy, you can name Bello Machre as the owner of the policy and then receive an income tax deduction for approximately the cash value of the policy.

2. Make Bello Machre a Beneficiary of an IRA (or 401(k) or 403(b)

Benefits

• You retain total control over the plan during your lifetime
• At the end of your lifetime, you know that Bello Machre will receive a direct benefit without any tax or probate delays

How to do it

• Secure a beneficiary designation form from the manager of your retirement plan; often you can download the form directly from the plan’s website
• Name Bello Machre as a beneficiary of the plan (you can name Bello Machre as the beneficiary of a percentage of the assets or as a 100% beneficiary)
• As with an insurance policy, you can also name Bello Machre as a contingent beneficiary of the plan

Special Note: Donors who are over 70.5 and have an IRA can roll over their required minimum distribution to Bello Machre and not have to pay tax on the distribution. The Tax ID number you will need is 52-091557

3. Make Bello Machre the beneficiary of a POD

More and more people are bypassing the estate probate process by designating bank and brokerage accounts with Payable on Death (POD) addendums to the accounts. Banks and brokerage houses are happy to help without any fees.

Benefits

• You retain control of your accounts during your lifetime
• At the end of your lifetime, the beneficiaries designated by the POD (charitable and non-charitable) receive the assets in the accounts immediately with no tax or probate delays

How to do it

• Download a POD form from your bank or other financial institution
• Name Bello Machre as one of the beneficiaries of the account

4. Add Bello Machre to your will with a codicil

Wills, of course, have been a long-time traditional way of passing assets at one’s death, and they remain so today. Putting Bello Machre into one’s will requires legal help, but anyone can add a simple codicil.

How to do it

• A lawyer can provide such a codicil or
• Add the following to your will, making sure to have two people who do not benefit from your estate witness the change (include their full names and addresses):

“I bequeath to Bello Machre, Glen Burnie MD for its general (or state specific) purposes ______ % of the rest and residue of my estate after all specific distributions and expenses.”

or

“I bequeath to Bello Machre, Glen Burnie MD for its general (or state specific) purposes the sum of $______________ dollars (or specific item, such as XX shares of ABS stock).

Except as expressly modified or changed by this Codicil, I approve, ratify and affirm my Will dated _______________, (date original will was signed)”

5. Establish a Charitable Gift Annuity with Bello Machre

(ok, maybe more than five minutes, but easy to do)

By contracting with Bello Machre for a charitable gift annuity (CGA), you can secure a guaranteed income for life for yourself, or yourself and a spouse, often with much of the income coming tax-free. You receive an up-front tax deduction and know that at the end of your lives the amount in the annuity principal comes to Bello Machre. For individuals who are still working or who may not currently need additional income, but for whom a potential new income stream in the future might be welcome, CGAs can also be deferred for any number of years, with the income increasing for every year you delay receiving it.

Benefits:

• You can make a significant gift without sacrificing future needs for income
• You receive an immediate charitable income tax deduction
• You can use appreciated assets to fund the contract while avoiding some and, usually, spreading the rest of the capital gain over your life expectancy
• You retain the flexibility of deciding when the income should begin and receive an increased income for every year the income is deferred, all backed by the full faith and credit of the charity
• A portion of your income comes tax-free

How to do it:

• Tell Tracy in the Bello Machre development office (443-702-3016) of your interest, giving her your birthdate, the amount, and the type of asset you will be using (cash or appreciated stock)

An Important Note

Making changes to your will or living trust will require that you set time aside to meet with your estate planning attorney. We promise the time you spend to plan for your future, and ours, will be time well spent.
