Meet Amy, a resident at Bello Machre’s community group home since 2018. With an adventurous spirit, Amy is always on the lookout for fun and engaging activities in the community—whether it’s painting pumpkins with her housemates or enjoying exciting trips to local amusement parks.

As Amy’s birthday approached, there was one item at the top of her “To Do List” that had been there for years: skydiving. For as long as she could remember, Amy had dreamed of jumping out of a plane, but her mom, Annette, wasn’t sure how to make that dream a reality. While Annette fully supported Amy’s adventurous spirit, she needed help bringing it to life. That’s when Bello Machre Direct Support Professional, Hannah, stepped in with an innovative solution: indoor skydiving!

Connecting Amy with an indoor skydiving center

On Amy’s birthday, surrounded by the support of her housemates, staff, and especially her mom, the group set off for an unforgettable adventure at iFLY Baltimore – an indoor skydiving center in Maryland! While Amy felt a bit nervous as she went through the instructions and put on her flight suit, the encouragement of Bello Machre Direct Support Professional Hannah, the iFLY team, and her mom gave her the confidence to soar.

With the help of the iFLY team, Amy was carefully lifted from her wheelchair and into the flight tunnel, where she experienced the thrill of skydiving! Not just once, but twice, Amy took flight, with her housemates, mom, and staff cheering her on throughout the entire experience!
