Learn how self-advocate Hannah makes a difference in her community.
Hannah is a young lady who lives in Carroll County and first started receiving Bello Machre services back in 2019. At Bello Machre, Hannah has received Personal Supports, and is currently receiving Meaningful Day. These services allow her to connect with community resources and engage in opportunities that excite her.
Hannah has an electrifying smile and spirit! She loves to advocate not only for herself, but for her peers who also have disabilities.
As a child, Hannah was diagnosed with Turner syndrome. Turner syndrome is a condition which results when one of the X chromosomes is missing or partially missing (per MayoClinic.org). This condition can result in heart issues and other physical impairments.
Providing Hannah with tailored resources and opportunities
When Hannah first started receiving services through Bello Machre, she made it abundantly clear that one of her top goals was to help other people with disabilities.
From there, Bello Machre’s Employment Services began connecting her with local internships and opportunities to do just that. Hannah was able to gain valuable experience in her dream profession and made connections that would help her open up limitless opportunities.
In fact, at Bello Machre, Hannah even works for the Peer-to-Peer Abuse and Neglect Training Program, where she helps other individuals to find their voice and feel comfortable speaking up for themselves.
Finding Hannah meaningful employment in the community
Hannah’s journey towards a career in advocacy doesn’t stop there. Recently Hannah began a paid position with community partner Moonlit Acres Retreat Farm.
At Moonlit Acres Retreat Farm, Hannah serves on the Board of Directors and is currently obtaining training to become a Peer-to-Peer support staff member.
Hannah’s AMAZING accomplishment was covered by local news outlet ABC Baltimore, and can be viewed by clicking the button below.
The entire Bello Machre team is ecstatic for Hannah and her impressive accomplishments!
Bello Machre’s Employment Services will continue to stay by Hannah’s side throughout the entirety of her employment journey and will provide support wherever it may be needed.
